The authors tell the story of their adoptive son during the Balkan War (1992–1995)

In the spring of 1992, a six-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl dream of returning to school with their friends, but, over three years, a war unfolds around them and drags them into hell. Thirty years later, the children begin to tell their story, and they don’t remember the great battles or historical moments that appear in books; they remember days and nights filled with hunger, sickness, and death coursing through the streets. But they also remember games and laughter because children, always innocent, exist in the present, living each moment of the lives allotted to them.
