A captivating dystopian tale, with echoes of recent Spanish history

The Year We Were Kings follows Emma, Yul, Sam, and Ignatz during their first year at college in Babilô, where they share an apartment. The city is a mecca for the art movement known as Cornerism and a breeding ground for various social uprisings that begin to grow deeper and more intense. Over the course of the year, the four students of Cornerism will not only face those life lessons typical for any college student, but they will also see themselves swept up by the social movements sending shockwaves across the city.
