Education versus Barbarism

A fictional graphic novel inspired by the real history of the Pedagogical Missions, an educational project that brought teachers to remote, rural regions of Spain, often for the first time, to instruct a population that had an illiteracy rate of 44% in 1931. The project ended in 1936 with the start of the Civil War, and its workforce was persecuted, imprisoned, or exiled. A reflection on the transformative role of culture and art and on the limits of reason in overcoming barbarism.
