Alfonso Zapico´s monumental work reaches its end 

The fourth and final installment of La balada del norte [The Ballad of the North] is the last that recounts a short-lived revolution, that of the Revolution of Asturias of 1934. With Largo Caballero in prison, Indalecio Prieto in France, and many other rebels dead or in hiding, the protagonists of this story roam in defeat through the mountains of Asturias in a cold winter. These pages furnish the entryway of a house in ruins, the broken and emptied home that is the Spanish Civil War of 1936.
