A love story set amidst a cholera epidemic in the 19th century

The historical setting is real: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Canary Islands), 1851. That summer, a cholera outbreak killed 25% of the population. The story is told from the perspective of a man immune to the disease who recounts how death laid waste to the city, abandoned after the exodus of all who were able. His gaze reveals an almost apocalyptic setting where normal social hierarchies disappear, distilling into two: the living and the dead. In this setting, a love story between two characters of distinct social classes develops.
